The first National Muslim Christian Liaison Committee of Canada (NMCLC) meeting for the year 2020 was held on Thursday, January 30 at Masjid Toronto. The Rev. Canon Dr. Scott Sharman, Animator for Ecumenical and Interfaith Relations, The Anglican Church of Canada gave a presentation on the new interfaith project that is being initiated by the Anglican Church of Canada and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada.
“A Common Word Canada” is an online resource for Christian-Muslim dialogue that will include a local dialogue resource kit. Scott introduced the resource and invited discussion of how it might be used in our communities.
The National Muslim Christian Liaison Committee of Canada is a forum for respectful dialogue on themes of common interest and for the exchange of faith-related concerns and areas of sensitivity between Muslims and Christians, through official representatives of both faiths. We seek to build long-lasting friendships and cooperation between Christians and Muslims, and to work toward a society based in values of compassion, respect and collaboration.
